ACOUSTIC ENCLOSURES

Custom Acoustic Enclosures

Acoustic Enclosures

Acoustic enclosure is a generally accepted technical term that is used to define a closed engineering structure specifically designed and built for the purpose of reduction, minimisation, or attenuation of the noise generated by particular types of equipment or machinery. Such as large air conditioning and refrigeration units, power generators, manufacturing lines, grinders, blowers, compressors, pumps, saw booths, gearboxes, etc. Acoustic enclosures represent a separate type of noise control solution. Other examples are acoustic barriers, screens, louvres, and acoustic walls and doors, each specifically designed for a particular application.

In the most general situation, acoustic enclosures are closed chambers made of acoustic materials that ensure sound or noise isolation and absorption. Depending on a particular application, acoustic enclosures may also perform additional functions, such as vibration isolation. Noise Control Engineering, being Melbourne’s largest supplier of custom-built acoustic enclosures with over 40 years of related experience, offers high-quality noise control solutions of all types and for all areas of application where noise reduction is requested.

Acoustic enclosures may be required at sites where noise-generating equipment is used. These can be office spaces, trading centres, processing and manufacturing facilities, etc. Since noise may affect human health, every type of business today needs to comply with specific standards of noise control. As defined by the National Standard for Occupational Noise, the maximum daily level of sound allowed at workplaces or public institutions in Australia is 85 dBA.

To understand the allowed noise level more clearly, let us give a few examples: heavy traffic generates noise of about 80 dBA, chain saw produces 110 dBA of noise and 120 dBA is considered to be the pain threshold for a human organism. Considering this, it is legally requested to keep noise levels below 85 dBA, while it is commonly recommended to keep noise levels at about 40-45 dBA for general office areas.

Acoustic Enclosure Manufacturer

With high-quality custom-built acoustic, NCE helps hundreds of businesses in Australia comply with the standards as well as provide healthy and comfortable environments for people’s living and working. Site evaluation and thorough inspection of customer specifications is the first stage in the process of acoustic enclosure production.

In most cases, NCE will manufacture a complete solution at its production facility and deliver it in ready-for-use condition. Installation of an acoustic on site depends on a particular project, but in most cases, it can be simply placed over the noise-generating source. If it is not possible to deliver an acoustic enclosure as a single-piece fully-completed product, the enclosure will be supplied as a modular structure for quick and easy assembling on site.

NCE uses the most advanced technologies and innovative sound-absorbing materials in building its acoustic enclosures, which are capable of reducing noise pollution by 15-50 dBA without compromising the efficiency of the machinery or equipment performance. Along with manufacturing acoustic enclosures, NCE also offers noise control solution installation services at a customer’s site by professional and qualified personnel.
